Snow crab legs are easy to make and take little time to prepare—they’re a perfect way to elevate a casual gathering or to treat someone on a special occasion. This variety of crab has a mild flavor that is delicious all on its own. However, you can also dress it up with many different spices like Old Bay, fennel, and blackened seasoning. Whether you choose to grill, steam, or boil, these snow crab legs are the perfect addition to your next party.

Distantly related to King Crabs, Snow Crabs are another variety of giant crab found in the icy waters of both the North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans. With thinner legs than King Crabs, Snow Crabs boast a sweet, delicate crab flavor, and their meat ranges from a reddish tint to pure snow white.

What’s more, our commitment to responsible and ethical sourcing ensures that these benefits come guilt-free. Our crabs are wild-caught in a manner that does not harm their population or the surrounding ecosystem.

KEY FEATURES

  • SWEET, DELICATE FLAVOR. Snow crab boasts a sweet, delicate flavor with meat ranging in color from a reddish tint to pure snow white. They are known for their thinner, easier-to-crack legs and meat that is easy to shred. Often confused with red king crab, snow crabs are not the same. They are more delicate with a milder taste and smaller legs. The texture and flavor make snow crab perfect for use in salads, pasta, or just dipping into butter.
  • QUALITY SOURCING. Snow crabs prefer deep, cold waters and are typically found in the North Atlantic and North Pacific oceans. Ours come from suppliers we know and trust and are generally sourced from the icy waters surrounding Greenland.
  • FULLY COOKED. Our snow crab legs are fully cooked prior to freezing. The process starts with removing the crab leg clusters from the body of the crab, cleaning, and then cooking in boiling salt water (this gives the leg shells their red color). The cooked crab legs are then saltwater ice glazed and flash frozen to protect the quality of the meat. They ship to you in an insulated container with dry ice.
  • EASY TO PREPARE. For best results, remove all packaging and thaw in the refrigerator 8-10 hours or overnight. The saltwater glaze will melt so put the crab in a container or wrap in a kitchen towel. Once thawed, we recommend steaming or boiling then serving them with melted garlic butter or lemon.
  • HOW MANY TO ORDER? To feed two people 6 ounces of crab meat each, you need a total of about 24 ounces of snow crab legs – or slightly less than 2 pounds of snow crab leg clusters. A “cluster” of snow crab legs typically consists of 4 legs and the average weight is 8 to 10 ounces per cluster. Snow crab leg clusters yield about 50% of the total weight in meat. Choose from 5, 10, 15, or 20 pound boxes of snow crab leg clusters. Snow crab clusters come in multiple sizes, 5/8oz clusters, 8/10oz clusters, 10/12oz clusters and 12/14oz clusters.

PREPARATION

Keep frozen at 0° F or below until ready to use. For best results, thaw before cooking by removing all packaging and refrigerate below 38° F for 8–10 hours or overnight.

BROIL: Place Alaskan Snow Crab on a broiler rack 5 inches from heat for 5 minutes until heated.

STEAM: Fill a large pot with 3/4 inch of water. Place a steam basket in the pot and bring the water to a boil. Place the Alaskan Snow Crab in the basket; reduce heat, cover, and steam for about 5 minutes until the crab is heated through.

SAUTÉ: Start with serving-sized pieces of Alaskan Snow Crab in the shell or out. Melt butter, margarine, or oil in a pan. Stir in Alaskan Snow Crab and sauté lightly for 3–5 minutes, until heated through. When sautéing with other ingredients, add crab during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

GRILL: Place Alaskan Snow Crab (legs and/or clusters) on well-oiled grill a few inches above hot coals for 5 minutes, until heated through.

I had an issue with the delivery of crab legs per shipping instructions. The seller overnighted them and UPS delivered them 4 days later. I contacted the seller and told him of the issue. He apologized and said that he would again attempt to overnight another. The following week, I received the replacement box. This seller stands behind the products they sell and will do business with them again.
